Kayak, swim, or ferry over to the Shoalwater Islands where playful seals wait, and penguins hide. For the most fun in this action-packed adventure, take your own or rent a kayak. If cruising is your style, embark on a tour. Expert guides will lead you through the stunning scenery while sharing stories of the animals calling this home. These guides are experts at getting the seals attention, perfect for your opportunity to swim with them. If going by yourself, make sure not to cross the barrier as seals can be territorial, in the water, they are more than happy to show off their acrobatics and enjoy watching your skills too.
A short paddle away lies Seal Island, a haven for hundreds of Australian Sea Lions. Observe these charismatic creatures basking in the sun, frolicking in the water, and displaying their impressive agility. Kayaking allows you to get closer to these magnificent animals than ever before, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Penguin Island is not to be missed. Unfortunately, it no longer contains a large penguin enclosure, and the penguins hide in the shade during the day. However, there is a great boardwalk adventure, a nice way to have a rest before making the home stretch.
Your experience is easily accessible, suitable for most fitness levels, you just need to be able to swim. Remember to keep a safe distance from all wildlife and avoid disturbing them. To cap off your experience, a fish and chip shop located near the information visitor center is a perfect refuelling spot.
