Venture north of the township, and you'll discover a place steeped in history and boasting breath-taking panoramas that make the perfect sunrise or sunset setting. Keep an eye out over the water between June to November for migrating Humpback whales.

Standing over a century old (1910) Vlamingh Head Lighthouse purpose was to halt all the shipwrecks along the treacherous stretch of reef. However, the real star here is the view. Climb to the lookout point for an awestricking gaze over the Indian Ocean and waters of the Ningaloo Reef where you might spot dolphins, turtles and manta rays year round. Other highlights include World War 2 defence remnants near the lighthouse. Keep an eye out for the preserved sandbags, a reminder of a different era.

When planning your visit to Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, remember it's easily accessible by car, just a short drive north of Exmouth township. Enjoy free entry to the lighthouse grounds and lookout point. Be sure to pack for the outdoors with sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes for exploring. And don't forget binoculars for a closer look at the wildlife and stunning scenery.
