Bring your line and stop at the many hot spots in and around Katherine to catch yourself a barramundi or other feisty fish.
Close to town your convenient fishing locations are Knotts Crossing, Donkey Camp, and Low Level Bridge. These are easily accessible and offer good fishing year-round, but the best time is right at the end of wet season with waters being more settled yet plenty of food moving around for the bigger fish. West of Katherine go for a scenic drive to Galloping Jacks, a picturesque location, here barramundi hunt for baitfish.
For each location you go fishing, do a quick google search on who owns the land. While not requiring a licence for recreational fishing in the Northern Territory, a lot of land is Aboriginal and should be recognised, respected, and treated as having significant spiritual connection to the traditional owners.
Fishing on the Katherine River is more than just catching a fish. It's about immersing yourself in the stunning scenery, the peaceful sounds of nature, and the unique ecosystem of the Northern Territory. So, grab your rod, soak up the beauty of the Katherine River, and see what adventure awaits on your hook!
