Port Stephens boasts a treasure trove of natural beauty, and Samurai Beach stands out as a crown jewel in the Tomaree National Park. This free camp, requiring online booking with a $6 booking fee, is a haven for those seeking a connection with nature in its purest form. The sprawling beach, untouched by development, offers a sense of tranquility and escape. Here, you can truly unwind and embrace the outdoors.

Choosing to stay here comes with a buyer or booker beware – this is a clothing-optional camping experience, and for those who can look the other way or enjoy the environment, it offers a unique experience. While nudity is perfectly acceptable on the beach and within the campground, there are designated areas where clothing is required. Always be respectful of other campers and adhere to these designated zones, typically around the campground amenities and access roads.

Since Samurai Beach campground is a basic facility with only toilet facilities and some firepits, coming prepared is essential. Pack your tent, camping essentials like sleeping gear, a camping stove, and cooking utensils, and a sturdy cooler. Don't forget plenty of drinking water, sun protection, and a hat. As there are no shops nearby, ensure you have everything you need for your stay. Remember, this is a 4WD-access-only campground, so ensure your vehicle is equipped for the terrain.
