Your best spot in Katherine to experience it all at the awe inspiring Nitmiluk National Park 13 gorge system where Katherine Gorge is just an absolute must. Nitmiluk Caravan Park is a place so good even the birds call it home, right at the doorstep of nature and a short walk to the visitor center for any information you might need such as asking if Edith Falls and Sweetwater Pool are open.
Take your choice of cabins, powered or unpowered camping sites perfect for pitching a tent or pulling up with a caravan. One thing the park understands is, after your big days of exploring, you need comforts. Take access of camp kitchens equipped with fridges, microwaves, and sinks, perfect for whipping up meals to share under the vast outback sky. Fire up a BBQ and swap stories with fellow travellers, or take advantage of the laundry facilities to pack light and explore worry-free. The onsite Sugarbag Café is a great spot to grab a coffee and small bite.
You can’t say you’ve been to Northern Territory Top End until without visiting Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge. Open all year, Nitmiluk is your base for exploring the area whether that is by canoeing, boating, flying, or simply just the 4.5 kilometre, 2 hour Baruwei Loop walk. But we definitely recommend canoeing and considering an overnight camp in the park at either 4th, 6th, or 9th Gorge Campground.
