Bound by the sea, on the Gulf of Carpentaria, Karumba offers a unique blend of coastal relaxation and outback adventure. Originally known as Kimberley, the town's name was changed to avoid confusion with its Western Australian counterpart. Today, Karumba honors its Aboriginal roots, meaning 'Spirit of an old man'.

Visiting Karumba is an experience of pristine beaches kissed by the warm waters of the Gulf, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle. Explore the surrounding wetlands, home to diverse birdlife, or embark on a fishing expedition to catch your dinner. For the adventurous, there are opportunities for four-wheel driving, camping, and exploring nearby national parks.

As the sun sets, witness the breathtaking beauty of a Gulf of Carpentaria sunset. The sky erupts in a kaleidoscope of colors, casting a magical glow over the water. Karumba is more than just a destination; it's an experience that will stay with you long after you leave.
